April statistics Monthly total PV production 259.53 KWh. Total turbine production 185.75 KWh.
April brings a major realization about the battery bank, see 4/3. Not only have we been heating water with the electric water heater for a month now but we have started supplementing cooking with electric again to stretch the propane. We easily never needed grid power since raising the turbine to a higher position on February 3, 2009. Except for the end of this month when we had no sun or wind for three days.
4/1 PV production 10 KWh. Turbine production 3 KWh. Water at 52C. Test ran the 240 vac air conditioner and the system can run it, the standard demand of the house, and charge at the same time, not counting any wind power. The system seems to be operating better than ever before. I have a theory that some of my batteries may have had a faulty connection. Running the electric water heater for the last month may have pushed through a connection. I'll check the battery bank connections closely. But it makes sense as the system was always finding fault with the capacity of the bank and now it is showing 99% state of health after two weeks of compiling. Not to mention the battery soc stays above 86% most of the time now.
4/2 PV production 4.15 KWh. Turbine production 5.65 KWh. Water at 46C.
4/3 5:42, 8+KWh turbine generation overnight! So we are going to have a predicted sunny day and we start out with full batteries. It is clear that we are capable of generating much more than the demand of our home and business, sometimes. I tightened every connection in the battery bank today. I found one major negative wing nut connecting the major leads together that was very loose and wiggly. The corresponding major accumulator on the positive side was only slightly tighter and not even hand tight. ~This is a significant finding!~. All this time the battery bank has been operating at a fraction of it's rated amp hours. The Sunny Island master has been trying to tell me this for quite some time. PV production 8.13 KWh. Turbine production 9.76 KWh. Water at 49C.
4/4 PV production 10.05 KWh. Turbine production 6.23 KWh. Water at 52C.
4/5 PV production 9.07 KWh. Turbine production 8.35 KWh. Water at 40C.
4/6 The turbine produced 10 KWh overnight. PV production 5.4 KWh. Turbine production 19.08 KWh, and I had to turn off the turbine several hours today because of the huge generation bumping my voltage to over 60 with full batteries. Water at 31 C.
4/7 The turbine produced 8 KWh again overnight, batteries full, sunny and windy. Too bad I'm not grid tied right now! 7:53, over 4 KW generation already. 7:55, the turbine turned off already. PV production 8.81 KWh. Turbine production 10.79 KWh. Water at 46C.

I could have easily heated water with RE if I waited just a couple hours more. So we had a great two month run without using a single watt from coal fired power, and then used only 4 KWh on grid.
4/20 The turbine produced almost 10 KWh overnight. PV production 13.83 KWh. Turbine production 18.83 KWh. Water at 27C.
4/21 PV production 7.71 KWh. Turbine production 11.53 KWh. Water at 46C. One of the 24VDC power supply transformers to power tracker 2 failed today. Covered by warranty and one has been shipped to us for free. Rigged a 24 V battery and connected it with an in line 5 amp fuse to power the tracker while we wait for the replacement.
4/22 PV production 12.7 KWh. Turbine production 0.98 KWh. Water at 51C.
4/23 PV production 8.59 KWh. Turbine production 5.83 KWh. Water at 47C.
4/24 PV production 12.05 KWh. Turbine production 3.61 KWh. Water is unknown as the solar hydronic controller has failed, says the tank is 27 below zero Celsius and the panels are 68C., with the sun down, both impossible. I think the controller is overheating for some reason, after just a few hours of operation. The new power supply for tracker 2 arrived and is installed.
4/25 5:00, plugged in the solar hydronic controller and it seems to have the correct temperatures right now. I have had to unplug it in the evening for three or four days now. PV production 11.04 KWh. Turbine production 4.74 KWh. Hydronic controller ran today but would not shut off this evening, unplugged it.
4/26 PV production 20.97 KWh. Turbine production 5.86 KWh. The water heated today but I don't know how hot it is. Plugged it in about 10:00 and unplugged it at 17:00. Ran the air conditioner all day and still filled the batteries. We had the air conditioner, two washers, and the gas dryer all going. Did 7 loads of laundry and vacuuming.
4/27 PV production 1.62 KWh. Turbine production 2.90 KWh.
4/28 5:30, had to switch to grid to heat our water this morning. Switched back to RE at 6:13, but the battery soc is low at 40% and unless we get the North wind forecast I may need to switch back to grid today. Switched back to grid at 17:00. PV production 4.48 KWh. Turbine production 0.04 KWh.
4/29 Still on Grid power with almost no turbine generation over night. Switched to RE from 9:15 through 18:00, then back on grid. PV production 7.23 KWh. Turbine production 0.00 KWh.
4/30 PV production 3.28 KWh. Turbine production 0.05 KWh.
