APRIL 2013  BACK TO MARCH 2013  FORWARD TO MAY 2013

So far our tracker repair is working well. Been through a couple real lightning storms and no problems even with the power supply plugged in. I don't like how the Suntura responds to cloudy days so I turn off power after I position the array to South and a Zenith pointing to solar noon sun for the time of year. I turn trackers back on when sun is forecast. Seems like when the sensor gets sunlight if the Zenith sensor is hard hit but already to the limit tilt full horizontal, the azimuth is not allowed to track. Saying this differently: If the Zenith sensor is full North but the array is already full tilt and to the limit switch, the Suntura controller just sits there without responding to any Azimuth stimulus, until the Zenith stimulus is broken by sun movement which can take a long time, manual actuation of Azimuth, or turning the power off and back on. I consider this a minor problem but one that makes the trackers intensely hands on interactive, more than I would wish for any normal customer.

Blue is total generation. Red is wind and one array of 920W PV
